Common Concerns

Young People and their families often approach our service for support with a variety of common worries and concerns about emotional wellbeing. These include:

Worry and anxiety

 Low mood

Sleep Difficulties

Intentional self harm

Sexuality and Gender Identity

It’s important to normalise some of the challenges young people experience. It’s fairly common for children and young people to experience some of the above difficulties as they grow and these generally wouldn't need to be seen by someone at CAMHS. Having said that, we appreciate these experiences can still cause concern, upset and worry.

To help we have put together some common concerns webpages and resources which you might find useful in the first instance before referring into CAMHS, and /or whilst you are waiting to be seen.

These strategies and resources are likely to be helpful for all children and young people, irrespective of whether they are seen by CAMHS. Therefore, there will be no harm in using some of the strategies now and we would always encourage young people to try these first.
